What others have to say
I went to a health clinic on Wednesday on my mother’s advice. I couldn’t make the appointment myself because I was so apprehensive, and so it was made for me. I was really nervous when I got there, and felt everyone was looking at me, as I got there early, but when it was time for my appointment a really nice lady came and asked very quietly if I was me.
I really appreciated this, as I thought someone was going to call out my name and my anxiety was very high. She then explained where we were going, very patiently and quietly, and I felt very comfortable. Her name was Felicity. During my appointment I was shown a lot of patience, and respect, and felt like I was really heard for the first time by a health professional. I felt so good when I left the appointment, because of her approach. I would like to give a great big thank you for providing a service that someone like me can come to and leave feeling better.
Who makes this programme possible?
This service is generously supported by members of the public and the good people at Overland Merchant Footwear. Thanks to their generous support, the service has supported over 200 young people with their primary health needs.
The Youth Health Service has evolved to complement existing primary options for youth. The purpose of this was to ensure there was not a duplication or replication of existing primary care services – but to add an alternative option that connected young people back to their primary care home and to other primary care services available to them.
