Ongoing Education Workshops
Youthline Wellington runs a series of workshops throughout the year to keep our members skilled in the current issues facing young people. We see this as an opportunity that should be shared and therefore welcome other likeminded organisations, school counsellors, youth workers, health professionals, parents and young people supporting their friends.
A gold coin koha/donation is greatly appreciated to help cover our costs. There are at least four workshops per year. The workshops are held at St John's in the City Conference Hall, corner of Willis and Dixon Street from 6.30 - 8.30pm.
Topics chosen for the workshops are informed by the themes that come up on our counselling line, from school counsellors, and Youthline Wellington's volunteers.
2018 topics have so far included:
Our final workshop is booked for Monday 12 November. Professor Vanderson Pires, a black belt jiu-jitsu instructor, will be teaching us some practical mindfulness and meditation techniques. He will also be sharing some stories from his time volunteering in prisons and living with Monks on silent retreats.
If you would like to attend, please get in touch.
