As part of Youthline Otago, Youthline Waitaki provides a variety of services and programmes to the North Otago region including helpline counselling, volunteer training, community education programmes, personal development programmes, and face to face counselling. We are committed to offering accessible, affordable, non-judgemental services focussed on the needs of young people in the Oamaru and Waitaki area. Our mission is to support and empower our young people locally and nationally to develop the skills they need to grow and live healthy fulfilled lives.

Face to Face Counselling / Kaiāwhina
We offer an affordable counselling service for individuals, families, or couples. Our trained counsellors use a person-centred strength based approach and cost of this service is calculated on a sliding scale to ensure it's accessibility to all.

Volunteering / TūaoYouthline Otago is a volunteer led organisation; join us to help support and educate our community! We have a range of ways you can get involved such as helpline counselling, facilitating workshops, fundraising, promotion, events, marketing etc.! Get in contact to help us support young New Zealanders and make a real difference to people's lives.
Youthline's national helpline is staffed by volunteers. Helpline counsellors are trained to ensure they are supported and equipped with the skills to take on this challenging and rewarding role. Induction training to become a helpline counsellor is held a several times a year and consists of 8 full days of training over 4 weekends. Click below to learn more and sign up! |
We also offer voluntary internship placements for face to face counsellors. Interns must be a New Zealand Association of Counsellors provisional member or equivalent.
