We offer a range of services including free helpline counselling, face to face counselling, community education programmes, training, and personal development. We are committed to providing youth mental health and wellbeing services to the Dunedin and wider Otago area, including North Otago/Waitaki, Clutha and South Otago, Central Otago, Queenstown-Lakes District, and to Aotearoa. Our mission is to listen to and empower young people both locally and nationally to grow and thrive.

We are a volunteer led organisation; join us to help support and educate our community!
We have a range of ways you can get involved such as helpline counselling, fundraising, events, marketing etc.! Get in contact to help us make a difference in lives of young New Zealanders. Youthline Otago helpline counsellors staff the national helpline. Our helpline counsellors go through training and attend supervision to ensure they are skilled and supported in their rewarding role. Helpline counsellor training at Youthline Otago is held each year and consists of 8 full days of training over 4 weekends. Click below to learn more and sign up! |
Youthline Otago also offers voluntary internship placements for face to face counsellors. Interns must be a New Zealand Association of Counsellors provisional member or equivalent.

Face to Face Counselling | Kaiāwhina
We offer affordable, barrier-free counselling with professional counsellors to young people within the Dunedin and Otago area. We are mindful of young people's specific needs, work with them to understand their concerns and co-create solutions to ensure they receive the support they need. We believe that cost should not be a barrier, therefore cost is calculated to ensure it is accessible to all.
