Youthline Services
All of our services are currently available. You can check out our services here. Our Helpline will remain open under all COVID-19 Alert Levels.
If there are changes to COVID-19 Alert Levels, some of our services will change, i.e. Face to Face Counselling happening online or over the phone, and Youth Work programmes in schools being rescheduled. To find out about any changes to local Youthline services, please don’t call the Helpline (we need to keep the Helpline phone lines clear for young people seeking support), instead please contact your local Centre here.
These are uncertain times and it is natural to be feeling anxious and worried. We are here to support you through this time. He waka eke noa.
More than ever, listening and connection are so important. We want to encourage you to reach out to us during this time to talk through any difficult thoughts and feelings you might be having. Whether you are feeling lonely, anxious or finding it hard to manage family relationships, we are here to listen and to help.
One of the most important things we can do right now to protect ourselves from COVID-19 is get a vaccination. Everyone in Aotearoa over 12 is eligible for a free COVID-19 vaccination. You can book online here: https://bookmyvaccine.covid19.health.nz/ . If you would prefer not to book, you can find a walk-in or drive through centre here: https://www.healthpoint.co.nz/covid-19-vaccination/?options=drive-through&options=walk-in.
We have brought together some resources below we think might be helpful.

RESOURCES
Covid-19 Information
COVID-19 has left us all with a lot of uncertainty and unanswered questions. It’s hard to know where to turn to for the information we need. We hope the link below will be helpful in pointing you towards some great sources of info!
Tips for Remote Studying
Studying from home is a new challenge for many of us. If you are in secondary school, uni, training, working, or anything and everything in between, we hope these tips will be helpful.
Anxiety
Feeling anxious is a really natural response to stressful and uncertain situations. We've put together some resources about anxiety to help you understand how you're feeling. One of the best ways to help manage anxiety is to talk through your feelings with someone else. We're here to listen if you want to do that.
Stress
Feeling stressed out is really common, and is something that most people experience. But feeling stressed all of the time can take a toll physically and emotionally. If you're feeling more stressed out than usual, that makes perfect sense, so much is unknown right now. Many of us are wondering how we will manage our school work and prepare for exams, what impact the lockdown will have on the people we love, our family and friends have lost their jobs or are having to learn how to work from home. We have put together some different techniques to manage stress.
Conflict at Home
During lockdown periods, we are being asked to 'socially isolate' with only our immediate family. This is a really different setup to our usual day to day lives, and we will all be managing tension and conflict within our family as we adjust to this reality. Some conflict is normal and healthy, and some is not. If you're worried what you or a friend is experiencing is not okay, we recommend you contact us to talk it through. We've also got some information on what different kinds of abuse can look like. For tips on how to manage and minimise normal family conflict, we've pulled some ideas together.
Family Dynamics
This resource for parents and whānau includes good information on managing disagreements, discussing differences, using communication skills and working on behavioural change. If you're looking for advice on another topic, we have a range of resources for parents and caregivers you can browse through at the link below. We also welcome contacts to our Helpline from parents, grandparents, friends, whānau, teachers, coaches and more. Being supported as the support person is incredibly important.
