TOPIC: The deal

This sounds like a very stressful situation for many students. I am concerned as exam times are here again.

I hope people will get support during the stressful time. Especially if you feel you haven’t done as well as you hoped or you feel is expected of you.

You could talk with a counsellor or reach out to your tutors or ring Youthline on 0800376633 between 8am midnight. I really want to encourage you all to not stay alone with your distress.

All of you take special care of yourselves during this stressful time.

Why can't people just study. It makes me wonder how they got into Uni in the first place.

Many tutors will give out the previous years exams, without answers, so that students know what to expect. However, some tutors don't prepare their students quite as well, which seems to lead students to desperate measures.

I think if the students are panicking, and feel they have not been prepared at all for the exams, they could always express this to the tutor. If the tutor doesn't know the students feel that way then why would they do anything differently?
If that doesn't work, they could always go to the tutors superior to communicate this & hopefully action would be taken.

As far as people making profits from selling exams, that takes it to another level and I don't agree with that personally.

Sounds like some great and very thoughful posts. I can remember back to when I was at university and can say that I have a lot of memories of lecturers being very vague and coy about the information they gave out around exam preparation. I never really understood the point of this as it just created additional stress and anxiety in all ready stressed out students. I'm not suprised that they would be tempted to look at websites if it would give them some additional clarity around what will be put in an exam.

I once asked my lecturer what we should study, the answer was, everything is equally as important.

This of course was not true as come exam time, some topic were not there and some of the things you put more effort into studying was a short answer or muti choice question. So what is the point?

Most of the things you study for n your exam you dont remember any way, i mean can anyone honestly say that the things they studied for their exams they remembered, more likely it was the assignments that you remembered.

I can see why people would want to buy exams. maybe there could be a better way to assess students rather than exams.

New Zealand actually does this? ?Woah' Now.. what a subject.. Personally ive never really been there before, wouldnt think us KIWIS would even think about it! ! I reakon to be successful we need to be honest with our selves and what we know.. Knowledge is something given to you and knowing whwta to do with it..

Knowing something by only theory isnt enough, but to experience it or phsically is different also..

Mind you when your've got alot on your plate what are you to do..

Cheat or just play the game and research; study and goh ahead? ?

If i was stressed out and i got thew opportunity, to be honest id think about it.. Passing an exam is exellence, just how you did decides what your score is...
