Youthline Southland

Kia ora, welcome to Youthline Southland!

Youthline Southland has had another busy year. We have seen a number of changes occur within our organisation, all of which have strengthened our team even more.

We have a very committed and enthusiastic team of volunteers which has grown throughout the last year and has allowed us to expand our hours to cover more shifts.

Ongoing national developments have added to the smooth running of our centre and we are grateful to all the Youthline centres throughout the country for the continued support and dedication to keep moving forward.

The last year has seen the development of more training resources and education resources for our volunteers, this allows our team to be well-informed with the most up to date information of a huge variety of issues we receive calls about.

One of our major goals for this year has been to strengthen Youthline’s profile within the community and to highlight the range of services we provide.

We would like to acknowledge all those who support and fund the work of Youthline, with the generosity of community businesses and grants we are able to meet the needs of young people in our community and our country.

Services We Provide

 
Youth Development
Through developmental and ongoing training programmes for volunteers

Education
School visits and health promotion seminars linked to the Urge/Whakamanawa Youth Health Information service.

Personal Development
A new programme is currently in progress and also we have supported young people to be involved in the national youth development conference – Involve.

Peer Mentoring
This programme supports senior volunteers to develop coaching and mentoring skills through the supervision groups facilitated and run by volunteers.

Youth Help Line
The foundation of our organisation which is as relevant now as when Youthline Southland was first established over 30 years ago. Technology has developed over the years and we are part of a national initiative to provide other first point of contact support links to young people as follows.
