Ponsonby sees the opening of a new deli this week, serving coffee and food to go with a difference: every purchase will go towards helping young people and their families.
Thyme out, is the latest addition to Youthline House, a community centre in Ponsonby’s trendy Maidstone St, where members of the public can come along for fair trade coffee and fresh food, with all proceeds supporting Youthline’s counselling, information, youth work and training services.
Youthline Facility manager, Rochelle Teitze calls it “coffee with a conscience” and says that people can expect quality coffee in a relaxed and vibrant space.
“Youthline is so much more than a phone counselling service and the house has a lot to offer the community, including workspaces, catering, a copy centre and now the deli”.
Rochelle says the move to open the deli is part of a drive to make the charity self sustainable and not solely reliant on donations and grants.
“We want to be part of the community and be able to offer people something that will help us too”
Discounts and special offers are available for Youthline members; just $20 per year gets a VIP card entitling people to discounts and special offers.
The opening will be held at 13 Maidstone St 9 am this Friday, with free tasters of coffee and cake.
