The beginning of each year is always an exciting time for Youthline and 2008 is no different. Firstly, Youthline was chosen to be the recipient charity for the Devonport Food, Wine and Music Festival. This is a great funding opportunity for Youthline but more importantly this is another way which allows us to connect with people in the wider Auckland area. The funds raised from this event will be used in developing a Youthline Centre on the North Shore.
During May of last year Youthline held a very successful Youth Art Exhibition which showcased artworks made by youth from all over New Zealand. Because of this success Youthline will hold another Youth Art Exhibition in May this year.
Relationships and community are the foundation of our organisation; being involved in the community and involving the community in the task of bringing about lasting social change is a philosophy that underpins all we do. Youthline forms many different relationships each year, whether it is through our services or partnering with other organisations to create resources for the community, such as the Family Violence Information Line.
Another exciting partnership project is building a web site that will provide details of much of the training available for people who work with young people. Check out www.youthservicetraining.com for further information.
We wish all people the best for 2008 and check out some of the exciting projects (like free text 234) that Youthline is working on and are detailed below.
